Duck King alias raja bebek ini adalah salah satu resto Chinese Food asal Jakarta yang cukup populer di Surabaya. Rasa masakannya memang cukup lumayan, dengan setting tempat yang cukup cozy dan menarik.

The Duck King is a chain of Chinese Restaurant, originating from Jakarta but equally popular in Surabaya. The food tastes quite nice and accompanied with a cozy and elegant design of the eatery.

Side Dishes

Saat datang biasanya langsung ditawari makanan kecil, kadang di baki begini yang konotasinya jelas suguhan yang harus dibayar. Tapi kadang pelayan akan membawa cemilan di tempat kecil dan suguhannya mirip dengan side dish gratis di resto Chinese Food sejenis, seperti Sarkies contohnya. Salah satunya semacam sajian tahu ditaruh di tempat kecil. Pertama kali datang ke sini beberapa saat lalu sempat mengira side dish tersebut gratis, ternyata dimasukkan bill sekitar Rp 20.000

When you arrive. the waiter would sometime put a little plate or bowl with small tofus that you can nibble, you might get the impression (like I did) that's it's complimentary, but it's not. Those small bowl of tofu and fried stuffs usually costs Rp 20.000, and it's way smaller than the items on the tray photo above.

Selain Chinese food seperti yang di post ini, mereka juga menyediakan lamien dan dim sum. Dim Sum / Yamcha nya cukup enak, rasa adonan kulit hakau dan bakpaunya amat halus. Beberapa kali makan di sini cukup lumayan, sayangnya yang pilihan makanan kali ini tidak seenak biasanya, terutama satu menu yang rasanya terlalu aneh.

Aside from this regular chinese food, they also serves lamien and dim sum. The Dim Sum / Yamcha is quite nice, the Hakau wrappings and steamed bun are nice and velvety, unlike some of the lesser place that uses coarse dough / flour.
This time though I didn't particularly like the dishes, one of the dish is particularly of putting.

Duck King - Curry

Salah satu hidangan yang rasanya agak nyeleneh di sini adalah kare ini. Rasanya cukup antik, kecut pedas ga jelas, berhubung memang tidak ada hidangan kare ternama di Chinese Cuisine, tidak heran kalau interpretasi masakan kare ala cina ini cukup kacau hasilnya. not recomended

One of the dish that is a bit of putting is their Curry dish, with assorted tofu and seafood. Too bad I don't really recall the specific names since I lost the bill :p
This is quite expected, since I don't really know any Chinese Cuisine that uses curry as base.
