Kali ini saya ingin menulis pengalaman transit di Changi Singapore dalam perjalanan dari Surabaya menuju Amsterdam. Seperti yang saya tulis sebelumnya di sini, cara booking tiket murah ke eropa, salah satunya adalah memilih keberangkatan dari Kuala Lumpur.

Berhubung saat booking dekat dengan kecelakaan Air Asia di Surabaya dan tidak ingin resiko, kita memilih maskapai lain, yang rata-rata tidak langsung dari Surabaya ke KL tapi transit dahulu.

Maskapai pilihan kita untuk ke KL adalah Tiger Air, yang dalam perjalanan ada 1x transit di Singapore. Total transitnya sebelum perjalanan KL ke Amsterdam cukup lama, sekitar 15 jam.

Having bought cheap Ticket to Amsterdam using Etihad we need to do some layover first before reaching Europe. It was quite a long layover lasting about 15 hours total.

As some of you may already know, the cheapest route to get to Amsterdam is from KL. At the time there weren't plenty of direct flight from Surabaya to Kuala Lumpur beside Air Asia.

This trip was in October 2015, so there's some fear of using Air Asia, since the airline had just had accident last year, so we opted for Tiger Air, with a Layover in Singapore.

Di Changi sendiri kita hanya sekitar 2-3 jam layover, hanya sempat untuk window shopping sebentar dan mencari makan siang, karena di Tiger Air kita tidak memesan makanan tambahan.

We only have layover for 2-3 hours in Changi, so we just use it for a quick window shopping and a lunch, since we didn't order meal on our Tiger Air flight.

Elevator to Universal Dining

Biasanya kalau di Changi, saya hanya sliweran di lantai 1, dan ketemu franchise kafe atau resto yang kurang menarik hati. Ternyata di sini ada juga food-court model Singapore Hawker center yang lebih mirip dengan penjaja makanan di kotanya.

When in Changi Airport, I usually just stroll around in the first floor and found the cafe / eatery to be stereotypical mall franchises. I was looking for something more genuine, so I'm feeling kinda lucky to stumble upon this elevator, advertising about food court in 3rd floor.

Pilihan makanan di sini cukup lengkap dan tempatnya masih cukup ok, walau saya rasa masih kalah nyaman dibandingkan Quizinn Foodcourt KLIA2. Pilihan makanan didominasi Chinese food, disusul malay dan Indian cuisine.

There's plenty of option here, though still far cry from the Hawker centers you find downtown.

It's dining area is a tad small and spartan in comparison to Quizinn Foodcourt in KLIA2. Dining choices are mostly Chinese Food, with two other stalls selling Malaysian and Indian Cuisines.

Tai Wah Pork Noodle - Hor Fun

Walau sempat berharap mendapat makanan yang unik, di sini ternyata model masakannya tidak jauh beda dari kafe-kafe / kopitiam franchise yang biasanya ada di mall.

Though expecting something a bit more unique, we kinda get some kopitiam run of the mill Horfun, which you get from those generic mall franchise cafes.

Dua Kwetiau ini sebetulnya berbeda tipe, tapi keluarnya mirip sih, mungkin beda topping sedikit saja.

Two of this hor fun are supposedly of different kind, but I cant really tell whats the differences, it tastes the same, probably just some small difference in toppings.

Tai Wah Pork Noodle - Hor Fun

Per menu harganya sekitar 5 hingga 7 Dolar Singapura, jadi sekitar Rp 50rb / orang untuk makanan saja. Rasanya sih tidak buruk, tapi rasanya kok mending coba tempat lain kalau ingin pengalaman makan yang lebih unik.

Each dish costs from S$ 5 to S$ 7. It tastes fine but nothing special, kinda to generic for my taste. It isn't bad at all, but I would rather pick something else that's more tasty and interesting.
