Kalau ditanya di mana gado-gado yang terkenal di Surabaya, jawaban saya selalu ke Gado-Gado Arjuna ini. Iconic karena tempatnya di tengah kota, dan sempat diulas di mana-mana. Harganya pun cukup terjangkau, sepiring gado-gado hanya dihargai Rp 12.000. Ukuran resto beken, saya sempat mengira bakal mendekati angka Rp 20.000 :D. Maklum sudah setahun lalu terakhir ke sini.

Dahulu sempat menjadi resto favorit saya untuk menikmati gado-gado, hanya saja pas kunjungan yang terakhir ini, rasanya cenderung biasa-biasa, tidak seistimewa yang dahulu. Mungkin kokinya sedang putus cinta hehehe. Krupuknya sedikit keras dan sausnya tidak menggigit, agak membosankan. tapi tidak parah sih, tidak sedrastis penurunan rasa seperti di Jitlada yang tempo hari saya ulas http://doyanmoto.blogspot.com/2012/10/jittlada-thailand-restaurant-sutos.html


Gado-gado is one of my favourite vegetarian dish, it's basically a salad, consisting of lettuce, tofu, rice cake and egg topped with light peanut sauce and crakcer.
There are many stalls that sells this dish, you can find it in street vendor all the way to upscale eatery. Though simple, you can often taste the different in the well prepared ones in comparison to the mediocre counter part.

Sometimes the sauce doesn't taste right, the vegetable not fresh enough, rice cake / lontong too chunky, there's a lot of things that can be discerned :p
Well too bad because on this visit, the taste wasn't as good as I remembered. Still decent though, but nothing special. Hopefully next time I'll visit it's a different experience.

They have a simple one page menu. Aside from the Gado-gado, their other best seller is Nasi Campur. You can try that if you're not fond of salad dishes, or you want something more filling.
