Kafe Black Canyon adalah franchise kafe dari Thailand. Berhubung asalnya dari Thailand, mereka menyediakan beragam hidangan Thailand yang cukup menarik. Masalahnya adalah di kendali rasa / mutunya. Kadang makanan ok, kadang minuman kacau, terutama kopinya, saat terakhir ke sana, rasanya cukup parah sehingga lebih tidak enak dibanding kopi sachet. Kafe ini tidak selalu demikian, dahulu pada tahun 2011 cukup konsisten rasanya, sehingga saya sempat membuat kartu membernya dan diperbarui lagi awal 2012. Tapi terakhir ke cabang TP, kecewa luar biasa dengan rasa makanan dan kopinya, sejak April sudah tidak pernah kembali lagi.

Sedikit latar belakang, saya termasuk penggemar berat kopi. Untuk sehari-hari biasa menyeduh kopi menggunakan peralatan-peralatan sederhana seperti Vietnam Drip, Moka Pot, Syphon Coffee Maker dan Presso, yang reviewnya nanti saya susulkan di blog ini.

Black Canyon Cafe is a coffee serving chain from Thailand. Having originated from Thailand, they serve some thai cuisine like Pad Thai and other delicacies. The problem is, the taste are not so consistent. Sometime the food taste ok, but the coffee sucks so bad it's even not as good as instant coffees. Other time both food and drink sucks. It didn't used to be like that, back in 2011 they are one of my favorite cafe. I even made a member card and renewed it twice. but this year, I got fed up by their incosistency that I haven't been there since April

I must admit I'm a bit of coffee aficionado, using simple coffee making utensils like Vietnam drip, Moka Pot, Presso and Syphon Coffee Maker regularly in home, so I might be more picky than the regular joe.

Kedua kopi di atas dipesan di saat yang sama di cabang TP, entah apa baristanya masih belajaran atau memang standardnya kopi hasil mesin espresso bisa encer asam dan tanpa aroma. Yang pasti itu kopi terakhir yang saya pesan di sana, setelahnya sudah jengah mau kembali lagi.

Those two coffee drinks were the last one I ordered on TP branch, I don't know if the barista were still in training, or they just don't know how good coffee should taste, they employ a big espresso machine, but the taste of the coffee was sour, under extracted and the aroma was gone.

Untuk makanannya, cabang Sutos masih lebih lumayan, sayangnya yang TP seringkali mengecewakan. Dua menu pertama dari Sutos sedangkan yang terakhir dari TP. Saat di TP itu juga pesan dua menu pasta lainnya, tapi saya sudah tidak semangat foto, berhubung rasanya kurang enak.

Now for the food, the one in Surabaya Town Square taste pretty decent, while the TP branch is more often than not, underwhelming. The first two dishes are from Sutos, the bottom one is from TP, on that day I also ordered 2 other pasta dishes, but didn't bother to take photo because the taste wasn't that good.

Tadi ketika melintasi kafenya (16 November) saya sempat melihat Black Canyon ada promo 50% off untuk member. Yang tidak termasuk promo adalah menu steak, crunchy snack, oxtail dan dessert.

Earlier today when I passed the kafe (16'th November) I notice that Black Canyon have a 50% off promotion for member card holder. Promo excluding steak, crunchy snack, oxtail and dessert.
