Excelso, salah satu kafe paling populer di Surabaya, salah satu franchise asli Indonesia yang cukup sukses. Walau sudah lebih dari satu dekade berusaha, kafe satu ini tidak pernah lengkang oleh jaman.


Excelso, the prominent cafe in Surabaya, which franchise originated locally from Indonesia. Time have been quite kind to this cafe, after being around for more than a decade, it's still going strong with a lot of following.

Kafe lain yang buka dari awal tahun 2000 sudah banyak yang tutup karena beragam alasan, tapi kafe satu ini kelihatannya malah semakin populer dengan bertambahnya usia. Foto-foto kali ini diambil di Kafe Excelso cabang Galaxy Mall 2. Sebelumnya sudah pernah diulas cabang lain Excelso di TP IV :

Many of it peers have gone out of business, with various reasons, but Excelso seems to be more popular by the day. This post is about the Galaxy Mall 2 branch. I've written a bit about their TP IV branch here :

Lemon Butter Dory (Rp 60.000 -> Rp 30.000 after discount)

Menu makanan di sini tidak terlalu banyak, tapi rasanya cukup ok dan tidak terlalu banyak masalah. Berhubung makanan kafe biasanya bersikap pelengkap, rasanya tentu tidak seenak rasa masakan Dory serupa di restoran, apalagi resto yang fokus ke Seafood seperti Fish & Co.

Biasanya rasa Lemon Butter Dory lebih enak daripada yang saya cicipi di sini, kali ini sedikit ada keanehan di mana saus lemon nya terpisah dengan butternya. Istilah bahasa Inggrisnya sauce separated / split yang biasanya terjadi karena proses masak sausnya pada suhu terlalu tinggi, jadi antara bahan asam dan minyak (butter) terpisah.


The food menu are kept simple, with about 10 selections of sandwich, fried snacks and dory fish menu. Taste-wise it's still quite good, I like their Dory dishes, though not as good as those seafood specialty restaurant such as Fish & Co

Usually this Lemon Butter Dory tastes better, but this time there seems to be a bit of mishap in the kitchen. The lemon butter sauce has separated when it arrives in our dining table, which might be caused by overheating the sauce, which makes the oil and vinegar ingredients splits.

Excelso Club Sandwich (Rp 62.500 -> Rp 31.250 after discount)

Untuk rasa sandwichnya tidak ada masalah apapun dan rasanya cukup enak. Rasa rotinya pas dengan isi sandwichnya, dan kentangnya disiapkan dengan baik. Tidak ada ekses minyak berlebih di kentang goreng dan rasa sandwichnya lezat.

The sandwich was quite spot on, nothing out of the ordinary. The fries is also done well, no excess oil and soggy potatoes here.
