Pasar Genteng ini adalah satu tempat pusat oleh-oleh khas Surabaya yang bisa dikunjungi, berhubung cukup ramai dan kurang nyaman baik dari sisi tempat jalan maupun parkirnya, butuh perjuangan ekstra untuk ke sini. Walau demikian tempat ini tetap ramai dan sesak pengunjung, karena banyaknya pilihan dan lokasi yang ada di tengah kota.


Genteng Market is the center for buying traditional snack. Indonesian people loves traditional snacks and this is the best alternative for a general gifts. Be warned though, this place is quite hectic. A quaint crampy street, very crowded and quite hard to find a good parking spot. Nevertheless it's still the most popular since they have the most selections in one place.

Ada beberapa alternatif tempat membeli oleh-oleh selain di Pasar Genteng, baik di mall dan supermarket, dari yang sama-sama kurang nyaman seperti ITC, Pasar Atum, Pasar Grosir Surabaya JMP dan Pasar Blauran, hingga yang mewah seperti Finna di Raya Darmo dan Galaxy Mall . Tapi di sini tetap ada keunggulan di sisi kelengkapan dan kadang bisa menawar kalau belinya jumlah banyak.


There are other places selling similar items, from the equally hectic Pasar Atum, ITC, Pasar Grosir Surabaya, Blauran Market and Jembatan Merah Plaza, to the upscale Finna in Raya Darmo Street and Galaxy Mall. But for sheer selection you can't beat this place, and the best part bargain hunter is you can haggle price when buying in bulk.

Smoked Bass

Salah satu item favorit di sini adalah bandeng asap dan presto, yang memang khas daerah Surabaya dan Sidoarjo.

One of the favorite here is their smoked bass and presto (cooked with pressure cooker) which is also made locally in Surabaya and nearby Sidoarjo area.

Toko di dalam pasar didominasi dengan penjualan alat dan suku cadang elektronik, sedangkan di lantai dasarnya ada pasar basah untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari seperti sayur mayur, daging dan buah-buahan.

The Genteng Market itself is in located after the traditional snack shops.

Tenants in Genteng Market are mostly electronics and spare parts sellers, while the ground level is occupied by groceries vendors, selling anything from fresh vegetables to meats.

Lapis Legit Suka Rasa - Jln Genteng

Selain toko oleh-oleh snack dan bandeng, di ujung jalan juga terdapat lapis legit yang sudah lumayan lama buka. Mengenai rasa menurut saya sih termasuk biasa, tapi cukup lumayan untuk buah tangan.

Besides the snack stores lining up this street, there's another simple bakery on the end of the street selling Lapis Legit. I'm not a particular fan of the taste but it's still good for gifts.
