Ayam Goreng Sri, salah satu ayam goreng yang populer di sekitar Pandaan dan Tretes. Pandaan ini berdekatan dengan Surabaya, hanya sekitar 1 jam perjalanan. Lokasinya di jalan besar jadi tidak susah untuk mencarinya. 


As in many other countries, one of the favorite dish here is fried chicken. It's quite different from the popular US Fried Chicken though, which usually breaded and deep fried. Indonesian fried chickens are done usually with a rub of herbs and spices, including tumeric, shallots, etc. Pandaan where the restaurant's located, is quite nearby to Surabaya city. It's just an hour away by car.

 Tempat makan satu ini amat luas, bisa menampung hingga ratusan orang di saat bersamaan, dan tempatnya sangat ramai. Saat ke sini sekitar pukul 13.00, restonya terisi penuh 80% pengunjung.
Tidak ada pendingin udara di sini dan nuansanya sederhana, walaupun demikian tetap nyaman, karena udaranya tidak sepanas Surabaya.


 They have a vast though humble eatery, and they're so popular that the place usually is packed to capacity. On my visit here I only saw a few seats empty.
There's no air conditioner here, and the table setting are spartan, but it's still quite cozy.

Tahu Tek (Ayam Goreng Sri) - Rp 20.000

Tahu Tek di sini adalah menu terpopuler kedua setelah ayam gorengnya. Rasanya lumayan, tapi tidak terlalu cocok dengan selera saya, berhubung sausnya kental banget dan dominasi rasa kacang kuat sehingga terasa monoton. Tidak ada kombinasi rasa yang ikut meramaikan, hanya terasa gurih kacang dan sedikit asin manis. Yang doyan kacang dan heavy sauce bakal senang dengan Tahu Tek ini, kalau saya sendiri masih jauh lebih cocok dengan tipe Tahu Tek-nya Jayen yang untuk sebagian orang kadang over bawang putihnya.


This Tofu dish is called Tahu Tek, which is the second most popular dish here after their fried chicken. It tastes ok, but not really suitable for my taste. There aren't any bright taste to suplement the robust peanut taste. For me I like the spicy, bright taste of herbs and spices to show in the dish, that's why my favorite Tahu Tek dish right now is still the one offered in Tahu Tek Pak Jayen . Some people says it's to garlicky though, so choosing which dish as favorite is purely a matter of personal taste.

Sweet Chilli Sauce (Ayam Goreng Sri)

Ayam Gorengnya empuk, rasanya juga tidak tajam, sedikit manis dan gurih. Yang seleranya ala Jawa Tengah / suka manis bakal suka dengan rasa ayam satu ini. Kalau saya sendiri lebih suka yang rasanya agak tajam dan asin, tapi olahan ayam satu ini enak juga.


The fried chicken here is quite nice, it's sweet, savory and the meat are soft. It reminds me of food in Central Java, where the food are usually a bit sweeter than Surabaya.
My own preference is for the spicier and savory kind of fried chicken, but this one is pretty good too.
