Setelah lama tidak kelihatan geliatnya di Surabaya, Dante Cafe muncul lagi di
Hotel Zoom yang terletak di jalan Raya Jemurasi. Dahulu kafenya menjamur di setiap mall menengah ke atas di Surabaya, beberapa di antaranya Tunjungan Plaza, Galaxy Mall dan Ciputra World.

Kali ini cabang barunya dibuka di luar mall, bersebelahan dengan zoom Hotel.

The last time I saw Dante Coffee chain was at 2012 where their cafe was still sprawling all over Surabaya's upscale malls. It was abruptly closed down and changed to Gekko Cafe, which perplexed me, since I found Dante Coffee was had a brisk business and almost always packed with visitor. which have it's branches in Tunjungan Plaza, Galaxy Mall and Ciputra World to name a few. Now They're opening a new chain in Hotel Zoom

Dante Coffee berasal dari Taiwan yang didirikan oleh Ibu Sophie Fang pada tanggal 12 November 1993 di kota Taipei, Taiwan. Pada saat itu kopi bukanlah hal yang umum dikonsumsi masyarakat Taiwan dikarenakan harga yang tinggi. Dengan mendirikan Dante coffee shop ibu Sophie Fang berharap Dante dapat menyediakan kopi yang berkwalitas namun dapat terjangkau oleh masyarat luas.

Pada tahun 2002 membuka outlet pertama diluar Taiwan yaitu di kota Shanghai, China.

Di Indonesia Dante Coffee pertama kali hadir di Mall Kelapa Gading 3 pada tanggal 17 April 2006 dibawah bendera perusahaan PT. Selera Sukses Pratama. Dengan menyesuaikan konsep sesuai kebutuhan masyarakat Indonesia Dante Coffee MKG 3 dengan cepat mendapatkan respon yang positive bukan hanya dari para pencinta kopi namun juga dari masyarakat bukan peminum kopi.

Dante Coffee chain originated from Taiwan, startin by Sophie Fang on 12'th November 1993 in Taipei, Taiwan. At the time coffee wasn't regularly consumed by Taiwanese people, due to it high price. Sophie Fang opened Dante Cafe in hope to serve a high quality coffee at affordable price for the mass.

Pada tahun 2013 master franchisor Dante cafe ini beralih ke pihak baru, Dante Mitra Utama. Mungkin ini salah satu sebab tempo hari banyak kafe Dante yang biasanya beroperasi di Mall Surabaya berganti nama menjadi Gekko.

On the year 2013, there's a new master franchisor for Dante Cafe, which is currently Dante Mitra Utama. This is probably the reason all of their venues in the malls got closed down and converted to Gekko.

Untuk ukuran kafe, rasa makanannya lumayan. Piilihan menunya pun jauh lebih banyak dibanding Excelso yang akhir-akhir ini menunya makin tipis.

Being a Cafe, they serves decent quality food, and there's plenty of option to choose. It's a stark different from the popular Excelso cafe whose menu keeps getting thinner.

Kemarin sempat membawa teman part time model yang suka berfoto. Tempatnya cukup ok untuk berfoto ria, dan manajemen / staf-nya tidak rewel tentang kebijakan foto di lokasi cafe. Di Hotel Zoom yang terletak sebelahnya juga ada motor harley untuk props foto, sayang pencahayaannya agak redup dan menyulitkan, jadi perlu pakai flash kalau ingin optimal hasilnya.

We went here on a group of 6, and one of my friend is a part time model, so we took the opportunity to take some portrait. Thankfully the staff were courteous enough, they give us liberty to take photos. Next door to the cafe, there's also an interesting Harley bike on display, which would make a good props for photo taking. Too bad the lighting were too dim, best to use some flash if you're interested in taking photo with the bike.
