Excelso sudah lama menjadi café paling populer di Surabaya, ulasan sebelumnya ada di :

Akhir-akhir ini karena semakin banyaknya promo di kafe ini, menunya pun semakin tipis. Hal ini sebetulnya saya apresiasi, karena dengan menu yang stream-lined akan mengakibatkan efisiensi harga dan kendali rasanya lebih baik.


Excelso had been one of the most popular coffee in Surabaya, I’ve frequently reviewed it in this blog. Here are some of that posts :

Lately theire menu have been minimalized to about half it former menu, which I assume was due to many promotions that they have. I find it as a good solution to streamline the kitchen, which usually equates to better quality control and pricing.

Sayangnya yang saya alami, rasa makanan dan harganya tetap sedangkan menunya berkurang,  untuk kopinya ada sedikit penurunan, terutama untuk yang syphon. Selain ukuran syphonnya semakin kecil, dahulu saat pesan kopi syphon digilingkan dari biji kopi segar, sedangkan saat ini diberikan dari bubuk dalam sachet.


Too bad that's not the case, quality is just so-so, and the coffee was a bit downgraded for my taste. Specially the one made with Syphon. The size of the syphon are smaller and the coffee wasn't fresh. I usually get a grounded coffee, but this time they put an already grounded coffee in a sachet, which was already stale / not as good as freshly grounded coffee.

Untuk makanannya tetap ok, sama seperti tahun sebelumnya, selama ini belum pernah kecewa dengan menu dory dan sandwichnya. Untuk menu fried food-nya seperti seafood sampler, bukan termasuk favorit saya, walau rasanya juga tidak buruk.
Yang agak kurang menurut selera saya adalah Oriental Chicken salad, berhubung rasanya hanya creamy, cepat terasa eneg dan tidak banyak variasi sayuran dalam menunya.


Despite some drinks having some quirks, the food are still similar to what I encountered back then, specially the Dory and Sandwiches. For the fried food like seafood sampler, I find it just so-so, though still tastes fine. The one dish that were not to my liking was the Oriental Chicken Salad, which tastes too creamy and boring, without any vegetable variations.
