Tahun 2014 ini
banyak resto-resto baru bermunculan sambil mengusung tema Casual Dining. Di
penghujung tahun, ada satu establishment baru, Confit, yang berani tampil beda
dengan memakai tema semi fine dining.
This year in 2014, plenty of new eateries
sprung up in Surabaya City. Most of them are casual dining type of
establishment, so it's a bit of a same old - same old kind of situation. To
break the mold, this December there's a new Semi fine dining restaurant,
Confit.

is a cooking term for
when food is cooked in grease, oil or sugar water (syrup), at a lower
temperature than deep frying. While deep frying typically takes place at
temperatures between 325 (163°C) and 450°F (232°C), confit preparations are
done much lower—an oil temperature of around 200°F (93°C), sometimes even
cooler.

Tempat makannya
ditata dengan cukup cantik, banyak ruang antar meja jadi tempatnya tidak terasa
sesak. Selain tempat makan utama, ada 3 ruangan tertutup yang disediakan untuk
acara yang membutuhkan privasi. Dua di antaranya untuk ber-4, sedangkan satu
ruangan private lainnya cukup besar, bisa untuk menampung lebih dari 10 orang.
They have a decent looking dining area with
plenty of space so you wouldn't feel cramped. Alongside the main dining area,
there's three private dining area, two of them can accommodate 4 people, whilst
the last one can be filled with more than 10 people.

Mushroom Cappuccino
ini adalah hidangan sup jamur. Jangan membayangkan rasa kopi dengan jamur,
karena Cappuccino di sini tidak merujuk pada pemakaian bahan kopi, tapi hanya
pada penyajiannya yang menggunakan cangkir seperti cara menyajikan kopi.
This Mushroom Cappuccino is a creamy mushroom
soup. No need to imagine how coffee would taste with mushroom, since it doesn't
used any coffee as it's ingredients, the Cappuccino part just refer to the way
it's plated.

Hidangan pembukanya cukup menarik, yang menjadi favorit adalah escargot-nya. Untuk selera saya, rasa Escargotnya cukup baik, tapi masih lebih suka dengan olahan resto Vinnette yang lebih buttery.
Their Escargot is the favorite entree of the night, plenty of my dining companion love it. Personally I think it's quite nice, though not as good as the buttery one I found in Vinnette restaurant.

Hidangan Main
Course yang sempat saya cicipi sendiri adalah Seafood Spaghetti dan Catch of
The Day. Dua hidangan yang cukup lezat, menggunakan scallop yang dimasak dengan
baik, rasa bumbunya tidak terlalu kuat, tapi kombinasi rasanya pas.
The Main course dishes that I tried were the
Seafood Spaghetti and Catch of The Day. Both tastes nice, having scallop as
side dish that were cook perfectly. The sauce used might be a bit bland for
Surabaya's standard, but it balanced well with the dish.

Desserts
Di antara semua hidangannya, sepertinya Dessert yang paling sederhana, jika dibandingkan entree dan main course-nya. Walau demikian rasanya cukup ok, tidak ada yang istimewa atau berkesan, tapi cukup lah untuk sekedar pelengkap.
If I were to choose the weakest link in the whole dining experience, it would be the dessert. Though nothing wrong with the taste, it's just so-so, a whole different experience when compared with the other dishes.
