Depot Karimun - Citraland Fresh Market [Surabaya]
Food Court in an Open Market
Citraland Fresh Market |
Citraland is a middle upper real estate area in Surabaya, usually you can't find a bargain dining in the area. There's an exception here, but the eatery is spartan and located inside in a fresh market of Citraland.

Tempatnya terbuka,
jadi jangan berharap terlalu banyak tentang kenyamanan bersantap.
Qing, kalau nuansa kaki lima sih wajar banyak lalat, sedangkan kalau resto
kelas menengah, amit-amit deh.
This food court is located in the same area
as an open market or fresh market as it's called, so don't expect a nice
ambiance. Having been there on a rainy season, we had to wrestle a bit with the
relentless flies. It's still worth it though, since the food are quite nice.
This somewhat uncomfortable dining experience reminded me of a similar one in a
full service restaurant, Chong
Qing, while it's acceptable to had this kind of experience in a simple food
court, it's another case for a restaurant.
Depot Karimun - Bihun Kuah (Rp 20.000) |
There's plenty of selection here, considering it's a small diner. There's Bihun, Mie Suah, Fried Rice, Noodle and Horfun. Since I was quite bored with eating Horfun, which seems to be abundant in Surabaya nowadays, I opted for the Bihun.
Depot Karimun - Misua Kuah (Rp 20.000) |
Their best seller is the Misua, which is a rice based noodle. It tastes nice, a lot of meatball and meat were used, so the broth is quite delicious and the noodle soaks it up nicely.
Depot Karimun - Misoa Kuah (Rp 20.000) |
Both the dishes tastes ok, but if I had to choose, I'd pick the Misua over the Bihun. The Misua tastes just right for my palate, the texture are nicer and it blends well with the broth.
