Kalau ditanya tempat wedding yang sedang happening di Surabaya, salah satunya pasti termasuk Imperial Ballroom yang ada di Pakuwon Indah. Kebiasaan di Surabaya, saat bulan puasa, biasanya menghindari 'gawe gedhe' seperti resepsi pernikahan. Untuk bulan puasa ini, Imperial Ballroom menghadirkan acara buffet Ramadhan yang berjudul Sejuta Rasa Sejuta Amal.

If you ask a local Surabaya peps, where are the popular Wedding Venues, one of them is bound to be Imperial Ballroom in Pakuwon Indah (near PTC). It's one of the most luxurious wedding venue, which surely gets the #goodlife hashtag from me :D

Di Surabaya memang sudah ada beberapa tempat yang menawarkan tempat makan terbuka yang cocok untuk menikmati hidangan tradisional Indonesia, tapi di Imperial Ballroom ini menurut hemat saya termasuk yang terbaik mengemasnya.

Karena sehari-hari sering menjadi tempat jujugan resepsi nikah yang mewah, maka tampilan buffet Ramadhan ini juga mendapat polesan serupa khas Imperial.

In Surabaya there's similar place serving traditional food, with pretty nice outdoor dining area, but this one is Imperial Ballroom have the best atmosphere for us.

Since the place is usually an elegant wedding venue, the buffet here are also lavishly decorated with Imperial Ballroom signature touch.

Beruntung untuk kita, kali ini bisa melihat Imperial Ballroom dengan nuansa yang berbeda. Kalau biasanya indoor dan riuh saat acara wedding, kita tidak sempat keliling untuk menikmati suasana di luar wedding hall nya.

It's quite rare for me to venture the place, usually we're just here to attend wedding parties, with a glamorous albeit hectic atmosphere, we never have a chance to venture outside the wedding halls.

Tema dekor dan buffetnya kental dengan nuansa tradisional yang santai tapi tetap rapi dan elegan.
Tempatnya cocok banget untuk puasa & ngabuburit.

Their ambiance and decor is traditional Indonesian eatery style presented elegantly.
This place is really nice for iftar feast.

Walau penampilan nasi gorengnya biasa, untuk urusan rasa beda dengan penampilannya. Patut diacungi jempol, karena rasanya lezat, tanpa ada after taste terlalu berminyak yang kadang sering ada di Nasi Goreng Jawa.

Though it look plain, their Javanese Fried Rice tastes really nice. They have a delicate tasting fried rice with none of the oily aftertaste I usually found in this dish made in other eateries.

Hidangan favorit malam itu adalah aneka satenya. Mulai dari Sate Lilit, Sate Kambing dan Sate Ayam, semuanya enak, dengan pilihan bumbu kacang dan kecap.

Makanan di sini semuanya bisa ditemui di warung tradisional, tapi menjadi spesial karena disajikan oleh koki-koki yang terbiasa melayani hidangan resepsi pernikahan dan menggunakan bahan yang berkualitas. Hal ini saya apresiasi, lebih cocok dengan tipe hidangan begini daripada sekedar dekonstruksi ala fine dining, yang rasanya malah kalah enak dibanding yang otentik dan tampilannya aneh.

Our favorite dish of the evening is the selection of Satays. From the Satay Lilit which is made from fish, Lamb Satay and Chicken Satay, served with Soy Sauce and Peanut Sauce.
All the dishes here can be found in traditional warung / eateries in Surabaya area, but they're all elevated to posh restaurant taste, since they're made by Wedding chefs and using a high quality ingredients. This for me is a breath of fresh air, rather than pretentious "deconstruction" dish, which usually taste mediocre and just looks bizarre.

Pilihan dessertnya sebetulnya cukup banyak yang belum terfoto, ada jamu, es doger, es campur dan beberapa pilihan lainnya. Cukup menarik melihat hidangan penutup model tradisional begini, yang biasanya menggunakan bahan yang bermutu sedang, diolah di Imperial Ballroom dengan mutu bahan yang tinggi. Rasa dasarnya mungkin tidak terlalu berbeda, tapi untuk kehalusan rasa, cukup bisa dibedakan.

Their dessert selection is also plenty, not all were photographed here, there's also jamu / traditional herbal drink, Ice Doger and Ice Campur, apart from the ones in this post. I find it fascinating to be able to taste this kind of traditional and spartan dish, made with quality ingredients, it really brings out multitude of new tastes of the old recipe.

Sempat saya tanya tentang judul "sejuta amal", hal ini ternyata menyangkut dengan CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program dari grup Pakuwon, yang salah satunya dengan mengundang anak yatim piatu untuk mengikuti acara buffet dinner ini.

I asked about the event title, which translates to "a million taste, a million charity", turns out it's a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program that's also a part of the event, where one of them is they invite orphans regularly for dining in this buffet.
