Porong Wei - Chinese Restaurant
The Famous Ote-Ote
Ote-Ote Porong Wei |
Porong Wei, salah
alternatif.
Untungnya tidak berapa lama setelahnya bermunculan gerai Porong
Wei di Surabaya dan Malang.
Back when I was a child, one of the highlight of going out of town
for me was having the chance to buy this famous Ote-Ote in the Gempol Highway.
Too bad there were the infamous Lapindo incident by Bakrie's group that led to the demise of Gempol Highway and suronding Porong area.
Thankfully the Porong Wei group didn't just sit by idly, they create opportunity from this crisis by opening up plenty of branches in Surabaya and then Malang.

Porong Wei - Grand City |
Saya ingat pertama
I remember back in my college days, first time finding out that
Porong Wei was opening shop in Surabaya was from my colleagues in Airlangga
Univ. Which is a bit peculiar since they usually prefer halal cuisine (seldom
found in Chinese restaurant). Turns out that Porong Wei wasn't using pork.
Loads of promotion |
There are some promotions here, last I went here it was Mega credit card that would nail you a buy 2 get 3 on fridays, and some 7 of choices promo which I'm not really sure what it constitutes for.
Angsio Bibir Ikan - Rp 75.000 (什锦冷盘 / Braised Fish Lips) |
Angsio bibir ikan
Kuahnya berupa saus asam manis
dengan ada pedas sedikit.
This is one of my favorite menu here, it's Braised Fish Lips. Made
from real fish lips, it kinda taste like beef tendon, without the gamy taste
and a delicate texture. The sauce is sweet and sour, with a bit of spiciness.
Porong Wei - Surabaya |
Kepiting Pasir Emas |
The menu posted here is all the favorites, after the Braised Fish
Lips above, my second best fave is this Gold Sand Crabs (Kepiting Pasir Emas)
which is made from soft shell crab. It tastes delicious, the crab texture
blends well with the salted fish egg.
Tiram Goreng - Porong Wei (Rp 65.000) |
Tiram Goreng telur
This Fried Oyster dish is quite unique, it's different from the
usual fried egg with oyster or Oyster Omelette which are usually soggy, this
one is crunchy and delicious. It's one of the best seller dish in the
restaurant.
Tiram Goreng - Porong Wei (Rp 65.000) |
Baby Kaylan Bawang Putih - Porong Wei (Rp 27.500) |
For the vegetable dish, the best seller in here is this Baby
Kaylan with garlic, it's cooked perfectly, not overcooked at all. It still lush
green when served in the table.
