Salah satu resto
terbaru di area Surabaya Timur, Wakoel Rempah. Di sini menyediakan menu masakan
Indonesia, dengan menu populernya Ayam Nirwana, yang berupa ayam kodok dengan
hidangan pendamping.
The latest offering
in Eastern Surabaya area, Wakoel Rempah, it serves Indonesian food, with a
signature dish Ayam Nirwana. Which is basically a stuffed chicken dish with
sides.

Tempatnya didekorasi
dengan menarik, dan wifi yang disediakan cukup kencang.
Secara keseluruhan tempatnya cukup nyaman, walau kadang agak terasa sempit kalau sedang penuh pengunjung karena jarak antara meja cukup dekat.

The place have a nice
ambiance, and the wifi here are pretty swift. Overall it seems pleasant, though
sometime can feel a bit cramped due to the closeness of the table and seat.

Untuk minumannya kita
pesan es sirop dan beras kencur. Beras kencurnya saat hadir pertama kesannya
menggoda, dengan botol yang cukup besar. Satu botol itu bisa memenuhi gelas
yang disediakan hingga 2x, jadi cukup worth it untuk harganya yang Rp 12.000
The beverage we
ordered were Es Sirop and Beras Kencur. The Beras Kencur were served with a
generous portioned bottle. Each bottle can fill the glass twice, so it's quite
a good deal for the Rp 12.000 price.
Masalah kualitas dan
rasanya, beras Kencur yang saya minum entah kenapa membuat tenggorakan gatal
dan berdahak, padahal saya tidak merasakan pemanis buatan sama sekali, jadi
kurang tahu faktor apa yang bikin batuk.
Masalah rasa juga termasuk biasa saja, banyak tempat yang
menjajakan beras kencur yang lebih segar dan nikmat.
Though appearance and
portion were good, the beras kencur drink gave me a sore throat, though I don't
taste any saccharine or other artificial sweetener which usually the culprit.
Hence it does gave me a bit of cough, but I can't pinpoint why.
Taste-wise it's just so-so, doesn't taste fresh nor delicious.

Karena siangnya baca
beberapa review baik tentang ayam satu ini, ditambah penampilannya yang cakep,
akhirnya saya dan Eni mencoba resto satu ini.
Ternyata, yang namanya penampilan itu benar-benar tidak bisa jadi
patokan. Karena itulah kadang kalau lihat foto di Instagram, blog atau FB ada
baiknya dibaca dulu apa benar komentar yang makan sebagus penampilan
hidangannya.

day I read a few good reviews posted about this chicken, that and seeing the
pretty plating, we decided to go here for an early dinner.
Thus the title of the post, don't judge a food from it's appearance, the food looks nice, but tastes subpar.

Melanjutkan bahasan di
atas tadi, masalah penampilan sih memang ok, sayangnya masalah rasa kurang enak, ada sedikit pahit dan aroma aneh. Entah utamanya karena kurang segar atau apa.
Untungnya bumbunya cukup banyak dan bisa sedikit menutupi
kekurangannya.
Selain bermasalah di rasa ayam, kentangnya juga sedikit bau tape,
kemungkinan ngarak alias
sedikit terfermentasi, tapi tidak ada rasa kecut, jadi tidak sampai parah.
Continuing the review
above, the plating were awesome, too bad taste-wise it's a bit off. Probably due
to lack of freshness, but I can't be sure if that's the case.
The good thing is
they gave plenty of sauce, so it did mask some of the foul taste.
Apart from the
chicken, the potato also tastes a bit fermented, lucky for us it didn't reach
the point where it taste sour, so it's still edible, just not so pleasant
tasting.

Tempat ini sebetulnya
potensinya sangat bagus, lokasi cukup gampang dijangkau, harga termasuk biasa
kalau menimbang adanya promo, kalau tidak ada promo menjadi setara dengan resto
Indonesia ternama. Pelayanan tidak ada masalah, sayangnya dari menu yang sempat dicoba kok tidak terlalu prima.

have a great potential, the location is quite easy to find, price-wise it's
quite affordable due to the promotions, a bit pricey when not on promotion
though. Service were also acceptable. Too bad the menu we ordered were not that
great.

Saya cukup maklum kadang untuk tempat yang baru bisa jadi quality controlnya tidak ideal. Sayangnya untuk
hidangan yang satu ini termasuk hidangan primadona restonya, dan sizenya cukup
besar, jadi kalau memang bermasalah ya masalahnya ukuran gede pula.

A new restaurant can
sometime have quality control problem, so it's quite understandable. Too bad it
happens on a menu which is their signature dish, and the size is quite big.
If you don't feel like playing Russian roulette you can order some other personal size dishes. They
also have other promotion from Mega Credit Card, with 35% off on all food.

Today (3 April 2016) I ate at Wakoel spices, MERR, Ir. Soerkarno, Surabaya. I ordered 2 porsion of nasi kuning and 1 porsion tahu telur, guava juice, es Manado, and es cao.

About 10 minutes later the drinks served.
About 13:00 there was another customer came in and order.
The position of the food we ordered, have not come out and servered. Nothing food come. Only drinks.
I've had several times asked, the answer is still in process.
13:20 the customer that came after me were served first. Their food already served.
As I know, they didn't do a pre order by phone, maybe. Because when they wanted to sit at resevered table, the waiter ask them to move. And they also order with the normal procedure like I dod before.
The waiter also, once inform that there was a menu that not available.
I wonder how the order of service, all the waiters could not answer. Only say sorry.
I just need an explanation actually.
Eventually I cancel an order and pay for drinks only.

Just a word of apology that comes out of some of the waiters there. But no one could explain why the customer after me served first and all of their order already completely serve.
And I still have to wait with the words without explanation. Why within 1 hour no food come.
In fact, this is my second visit to wakoel rempah. On the first visit was fine, the service a little bit long, we also wait for some times. But what is already done, they served in advance and do not jump to the next customer.
On that day, I am not the first person who must satisfied with the apology from the waiter there. Before, I cancelled my order after 1 hour waiting, there was a customer do on the same thing, she ask why the food not ready yet, angry and finally canceled the order.
And other disappointments, too many menu not available.
When I want to order gado gado, rujak cingur, es degan jeruk, durian juice were not available. Even though they write in the menu book. And again they only said Sorry it is not available.
My mother-in-law said it should be removed if there is not available. What a fabulous restaurant (in opposite meaning).
Not reccomended at all.
Not worth to try.
