Depot Golden Yen ini termasuk salah satu kwetiau favorit saya, selain rasanya ok, harganya juga tidak mahal. Ditambah lagi dekat dengan tempat tinggal saya, jadilah ini salah satu tempat jujugan buat saya kalau mau cari Kwetiau tanpa harus ngantri-ngantri seperti di Kwetiau Apeng

Golden Yen here is a type of spartan eateries that serves good tasting comfort food.
They sell some simple Chinese food, usually consists of noodles, rice and horfun. The taste are quite nice and it's close to where I live, so this is where I usually go for Horfun when I don't want to travel far or wait in line, which is usually the case in Kwetiau Apeng

Saat ke sana saya masih sedang puasa / pantang daging, jadi nyoba yang menu Kwetiau Siram vegetarian. Sempat salah sangka, saya kira pesanannya salah yang keluar karena ada potongan daging. Ternyata dagingnya gluten, alias daging palsu yang dibuat dari tepung.
Saya sebetulnya ngga terlalu nge-fans daging gluten, tapi kali ini rasanya cukup ok, tidak berasa tepung.

Kwetiau Siram is the soupy kind of hor fun, made with egg and stock. Since this are vegetarian version, vegetable stock are used. The meat looking things on the top is actually mock meat, made of gluten. I'm not a fan of gluten, but this one tastes nice, you don't get that floury strange taste.

Resto utamanya di Babatan Pantai hanya buka dari pukul 8 hingga 3 sore (untuk kepastiannya lebih baik telepon dahulu). Di food fest biasanya yang menjaga adalah anak dari pemilik resto sedangkan ibunya yang menggawangi resto Golden Yen Babatan Pantai.
Saya belum pernah mencoba sendiri yang di Food Fest, tapi rata-rata teman yang ke sini juga puas dengan olahan masakannya. Untuk foto di atas ini hasil pinjam pesanan teman sebelum dimakan.

Their main restaurant in Babatan Pantai only open from 8 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon (be sure to check by phone though, since this mom and pops kind of establishment usually a bit less strict on their schedule). Usually their Food Fest branch is run by the son, while the friendly auntie watch over the Babatan Pantai diner.
I haven't tried the one in FF for myself, but friends who went there always sings praises.

Peanut Seller in Food Festival

Sempat mampir sebentar di tetangganya food fest, east coast center, sekarang ternyata ada yang baru. Resto lama yang dahulu ada di sini adalah Sakura Teppanyaki yang memang tidak terlalu istimewa.

I happen to stop by to it's next door neighbor, East Coast Center. Noticed that one of the restaurant posted in this blog, Sakura Teppanyaki, already close. Not a surprise for me since the food is just mediocre.
