Feast For The Eyes (First Time with Mitakon 50mm f0.95)

Di Marina Bay Sands (MBS) ada beberapa resto terkenal seperti DB Bistro dari Daniel Boulud, David Myers dan Mario Batali. Sempat tertarik mengunjungi resto beberapa chef ternama tersebut, tapi berhubung saat itu sedang lebih selera foto dibandingkan makan, akhirnya pilihan tempat makan jatuh ke TWG yang cantik ini.

In Marina Bay Sands (MBS) you can find plenty of restaurant by celebrity chefs. There's DB Bistro by Daniel Boulud, David Myer's Adrift and Mario Batali's Osteria Mozza (in the hotel instead of mall). I was intrigued to try one of them at the time of this visit, but having just got a new Mitakon 50mm lens, we're more excited about photo taking, so we ended up having lunch in the TWG, which is one of the prettiest eatery around.

Beda dengan resto-resto yang mengutamakan privasi, kafe di MBS bertema terbuka dan kadang ada di atas jembatan, atau di pinggir kolam air mancur. Cocok untuk yang ingin menikmati suasana keramaian Mall nya sendiri dibandingkan resto yang mengutamakan kenyamanan saat menikmati makanan.

The Cafes here are designed in such way that you can enjoy your time in the cafe while taking in the atmosphere of the mall itself. It's usually located in the center of the mall, near the fountain pool or on a bridge across the canals.

Kafe di sini ada banyak, tidak kalah dari jumlah restonya. Beberapa yang punya tempat menarik untuk difoto dari pengamatan saya ada Ce La Vi yang ada di atas MBS, tapi kafe satu ini ada entry charge-nya sebesar S$20. Dua lainnya adalah Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf dan TWG.

There's a plethora of cafes here, from the simple to elaborate ones. For the shutterbugs, some notable cafes are Ce La Vi, which is located in the top of MBS, and have a cover charge of S$20.

Two others are Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf & TWG.

TWG ada dua gerai di MBS dan pilihan kita jatuh ke lokasi yang ada di atas kanal, seperti jembatan di atasnya. Tempatnya menarik untuk foto-foto portrait, ditambah lagi karena posisinya yang agak tinggi jadi cahaya matahari masuk tanpa ada halangan.

Kalau sekedar untuk menikmati suasana, mungkin Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf lebih menarik karena lokasinya ada persis di bawah kolam air mancur yang iconic di MBS.

There's two TWG cafe in MBS, and our choice comes to this TWG on top of a bridge like structure. It appeals to me because I was looking forward to capturing some portraits here. The elevated eatery would be ideal since there's less obstacles for the warm sunlight from above.

Some people would be more suited in Coffee Bean & Tea Leafs, since that cafe have a great location just next to the iconic MBS fountain / waterfall.

Begitu selesai memesan, kita disuguhi roti dalam bread plate ini, walaupun hanya satu menu yang seharusnya mendapatkan complimentary bread, waiter yang melayani kita, Mr Muhammad sempat berbaik hati menawarkan roti tambahan :)

Once we were done ordering, we were served this complimentary bread. Though only one menu were suppose to get the complimentary bread, we were offered another one on the house, courtesy of the lovely waiter, Mr Muhammad.

Kita memesan dua menu untuk makan siang, Forest Crepe dan Lobster Timbale

TWG Marina Bay Sands - Forrest Crepe S$ 18

Walaupun tidak ada nama chef selebritis di TWG, olahan crepe dan lobster timbali yang kita coba semuanya enak, bisa dibandingkan dengan resto-resto western tersohor di Surabaya.
Rasa crepenya lembut dan crispy, tidak eneg sama sekali.

Sedangkan Lobster Timbale-nya disajikan dengan saus yang rasanya segar, saus ini cukup spesial ternyata karena dibuat dengan cuka yang di infuse dengan teh TWG.

Though you won't find any celebrity chefs name in the TWG sign board, you'd be pleasantly surprised when ordering food here, they got a great standard for the dish being served.

Though being a franchise cafe, their cuisine are up to the standard of upscale western restaurant in Surabaya.
The crepe were great tasting, crunchy thin crepe with delicious savory filling.
Lobster Timbale were similarly tasty, I particularly like the bright tasting dressing, made with infusing vinegar with tea.

Lobster Timbale ; Poached Maine lobster and avocado timbale seasoned with spicy citrus and honey dressing, accompanied by artisanal pickles and spinach salad drizzled with a Love Me Tea infused vinaigrette

Forest Crepe; Crepe served with shredded chicken thigh and forest mushrooms tossed in a béchamel sauce seasoned with garlic and parsley butter.
