Buat pecinta Soto Madura, ada satu brand yang lumayan terkenal, Soto Gubeng.
Kali ini kita mencoba salah satu cabangnya di Mulyorejo. Alamat seperti biasa disertakan di bagian akhir blogpost ini.

Soto Madura is one of East Java famous dish. It is popular with people that likes gamy entrails taste. I used to dislike this type of cuts, when I thought it wasn't healthy. Nowadays I've enjoyed it more, ever since knowing the benefits of eating it (when you don't consume it with carbs / sugar). It's loaded with vitamin and minerals, taste-wise I don't mind gamy taste.

Sumber apinya kayu bakar, walau tidak langsung kontak dengan makanannya (seperti sate misalnya) hasil akhirnya tetap ada pengaruh besar kalau bandingkan antara proses masak soto tradisional begini dengan yang modern pakai gas. 

While there's no direct contact with the food (BBQ for example of that) this method of traditional cooking does has effects on the final dish. I like the subtleness of taste, and some smokiness does permeates through the final bowl.

Rasa soto di sini cukup kuat walau kuahnya kelihatan jernih. Penggemar Jeroan bakal cocok dengan rasa daging yang kuat di sini. Kalau suka dengan Jeroan aroma netral, bakal kurang suka, karena di sini bold banget aromanya.

This is the place for innards lovers, you can taste the gaminess of the cuts. Though it's not off putting, I'd imagine people having trouble with the bold aroma if they're not accustomed to this meat cuts.

Satenya rasanya cukup enak, tidak terlalu kental rasa kacang, cenderung balanced dan tidak terlalu simple. Empuk juga walaupun tidak istimewa di sana, rasanya cukup nendang.

The satay is also good to try, I like that they don't have particularly strong peanut taste. It's quite tender, thought nothing notable on that part. All Maduranese style satay are usually bolder than their Javanese counterparts.
